Arthur Lee Johnson, Sr. was born on July 25, 1940, to the late Willie C. and Annie Mae Johnson in Baconton, GA. He was one of twelve children.
Arthur gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined St. Mary Baptist Church of the Flint Community.
Arthur was educated in the Camilla Consolidated School System. While in high school he fell in love with his wife, Ola Mae Hall. They soon married and were blessed with 5 children. They were married for over 50 years.
Arthur started working at an early age. He worked until his health started to fail as a carpenter and painter. Arthur was an excellent cook and griller. He loved watching western movies and wrestling. Although on many days he was a man of few words, he always knew how to make you laugh. He was known for a lot of phrases, such as "do it there", right there, right there', "the whole nine yards," and his favorite from the Gambler was "you got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run."
He departed this life on December 28, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, his wife and two sons.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Tony (Daphne) Johnson of Albany, GA; two daughters, Virgie "Elaine" Johnson of Albany, GA, and Angie (Jeff) Parker of Warner Robins, GA; three grandsons, Virgil (Tieria) Johnson of Albany, GA, Decal Johnson of Stone Mountain, GA, and Jamie (Jasmine) Johnson of Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota; three granddaughters, Toni Johnson, Jaliyah and Jamiyah Parker. He also leaves to cherish his memories, three brothers, Charlie (Katie) Johnson, Jimmy Lee (Joanne) Johnson, both of Albany, GA and Roy Lee Johnson of Baconton, GA; three sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Ollie Lee and Frances Johnson, all of Baconton, GA. He has four great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
