Avier Armour Obituary

On November 1, 1959, a beautiful baby girl, who was given the name Avier Patricia (Ford) Armour, was born to the late Joseph and Juliette Ford in Albany, GA.

Avier confessed her love for Christ as a little lamb at First Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and later united with Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church.

She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe Comprehensive High School, Class of 1977.

Avier ultimately chose a career of 20 years of military service with the United States Army. In this capacity, she served as a transporter of fallen soldiers. After completing her military service, she transitioned to a 20-year career with the United States Postal Service as a mail handler. Avier not only showed up at the workplace but demonstrated exceptional diligence, staying committed until the task was completed. She was the epitome of the words “The hardest working person in the building.”

Avier had the ability to invite people to a plethora of her parties, whether it be a party of music (blues) laughter, comedy, joy, or food. “Everybody” would enjoy devouring the delicious meals that she would prepare.

One of the most important things we must “All” remember is that Avier was An Agape Giver. She gave “Truly” from the Heart and Never Expected Anything in Return. We dare not forget her infectious smile, remembering it for eternity.

On Sunday, January 19, 2025, Avier heard the trumpet playing one of those heavenly Blues tunes, and as she saw the angels flying above her, she silently transitioned from this earthly place. She is preceded in death by her eldest sister, Vickie (Jimmie) Jenkins.

Avier will be deeply missed but forever loved by her two daughters, Aijalon Ford of Albany, GA, and Ashara Coles of Jacksonville FL; two grandchildren whom she adored, Austin Ford, and Hunter Ford of  Albany, GA; seven sisters, Sandra Roker, Brenda McQueary (Edwin), Beverly Ford, Judy Windom(Carl), Helen Beach, Carolyn Collins, and Panviki Deariso (Patrick), all of Albany, GA; five brothers, Danny Johnson (Nettie), Kenneth Ford of Albany, GA, Julian Lambert (Diane), Union, NJ, Vance Ford (Shirley) of Lithonia, GA, and Tavio Ford (Tod’Dionne) of Newnan GA; three Godsisters, Katherine Williams, Vernida Williams (Greg) and Cheryl Alexander of Albany, GA; caregiver, Valerie Leven of Albany, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
