Bobby Joe Phillips was born on May 18, 1950, to the late Joe Phillips and Idell Phillips. He was educated in the Dougherty County School System and later attended Turner Job Corps. After completing Job Corps, Bobby built a dedicated career, working for Purity Sugar Cone for many years until its closure. He then joined Cagle’s Keystone Foods, where he worked for fifteen years before retiring.

He was preceded in death in 1984 by four of his children, Contessa, Dehaven, Bobby, and Kimora Randle.
Left to honor and cherish his memory are his children: Roderick Oliver, Kimberly Greene, Adriene Randle, and Patricia Cauley, all of Albany, Georgia. He is also survived by his beloved siblings: Ola Carr (the late Solomon Flowers) of Albany, Georgia, Carolyn Phillips of North Carolina, Curtis Phillips, and Frances Phillips Jenkins (Ulysees) of Albany, Georgia, Rosalyn Thomas, and Marlon White of North Carolina.
