Mr. Calvin Isom was born on October 8, 1932, in Macon, GA, to the late Samuel and Lizzie Isom. He peacefully transitioned from this life on August 13, 2025.
Calvin received his early education in the Bibb County School System. After graduating, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He furthered his education at Fort Valley State College and later earned a Master of Music degree from Georgia State University. His passion for music and education led him to continue his studies at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.
He dedicated many years of service to the field of education. Calvin first worked in Bulloch County before retiring from the Dougherty County School System, where he touched countless lives through his teaching and mentorship.
On June 7, 1962, Calvin was united in holy matrimony to Lila (Jones) Isom, and together they built a loving home and life. To this union, two children were born: Leonard Isom (deceased) and Adrian Isom.
He leaves to cherish his legacy of love and devotion: his loving wife, Lila J. Isom; son, Adrian (Angela) Isom of Stone Mountain, GA; grandchildren: Jonathan Isom, Lionel Conyers, Kyla Ford, and Rodney Ford, Jr.; brother, Darrell Isom of Macon, GA; in-laws: Douglas Jones of Statesboro, GA; and Isiah (Brenda) Brown of Delray Beach, FL; and nephews: Darrell (Jusitt) Jones and Michael (Tiffany) Jones. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members, colleagues, and friends who will forever remember his kindness, wisdom, and dedication.
