Charles Hall, Sr. Obituary

Charles Edward Ross Hall, Sr., affectionately known as "Pop," was born July 21, 1950, in Leesburg, GA, to the late Ida Esther Morris and David Lee Ross, Sr. He was raised by his late parents, LC Hall and Ida Pecks Hall.

As an exceptionally smart student, Pop graduated at the age of 16 from the Lee County Training School in 1967. He then attended Georgia Southwestern in Americus, GA, and Albany Area Tech. After graduation, Pop was gainfully employed by M&M Mars. He was the first Black manager who promoted the growth of other employees. Because of his entrepreneurial spirit, he owned several businesses ranging from restaurants to car lots with his sons.

He joined McAfee Grove Baptist Church in Leesburg, GA, at an early age. Later, Pop moved his membership to Healing Temple Ministries of Americus, GA, under the leadership of the late Bishop PJ Welch. Pop worked in various areas throughout the church, ensuring the growth and development of the church and its members. He also became the chairman of the deacon board.

Pop formerly married Anola Walton Hall, and four sons, who were the light of his life, were added to the union: Ernest Hall, Adrian Hall (Krysta), Christopher Hall, and Charles Hall Jr. (Rashel). Pop has five grandchildren: Ernest Jr., Yelencia, Keanu, D'Vory'e, and Taylor. He also has five great-grandchildren: Amar'e, Amina, Jaylen, Jayda, and Quest.

On December 13, 2023, our beloved Pop departed from this life at the age of 73. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, who were holding his hands and whispering words of comfort and love. Pop will always be remembered for his remarkable ability to make everyone feel loved, appreciated, and cared for. He had a heart of gold and a contagious smile that could light up a room. Pop was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Pop leaves to mourn his sons, his father, David Lee Ross (Bertha), and his siblings, Ida Range, Hilda Doster (Jackson), and Evette Perkins. He is also survived by a devoted cousin, Bobby Collier; three God - sons, Jerry Gibson, Maquis Spivey, and William Holt; and three God - daughters, Shemika Brantley, Shandrea Brown Thorne, and Cecilia Jenkins; close friends, Pastor Robert Angrish and Jerome Ford; a host of nieces, nephews, and sorrowful friends; and last but not least, man's best friend and devoted fur baby, Winston Charles.
