Charylene Allen Laster entered this world on February 3, 1961, in Bainbridge, Georgia. She was the only child of Mrs. Hannah Allen Miller. She departed this earthly life on August 14, 2021. Charylene was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. (Alma) Allen, Sr., and her in-laws, Mrs. Betty Laster and Mr. Thomas Laster, Sr.
“Neat”, as she was affectionately called, was educated in the Dougherty County School System and was a 1979 graduate of Monroe Comprehensive High School. She was also a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University with a degree in mass communications.
“Neat” joined Mount Zion Baptist Church as a young child and remained active until her death. She sang in various choirs during her stages of development – the most recent being The Voices of Zion. She was a member of General Mission Ministry, Circle 5 Ministry, leader in the Nursery Ministry, and substitute Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of Delta Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Charylene recently retired after thirty years of service in the field of education in Dougherty and Worth Counties. She was primarily a Pre-K teacher.
Mrs. Laster leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband of thirty-four years, Larry Laster; two children, a son, Sean (Kelli) Laster and a daughter, Charnell Laster; her mother, Hannah A. Miller; her father, Willie (Marie) Long, Jr.; a sister, Donna Cox; two aunts, Ann (Art) Brown and Euliean King; four uncles, Roy Allen, Benjamin (Lois) Allen, Joseph (Angela) Allen and Henry Allen; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Renee Laster and Patricia (Herrod) Beasley; two brothers-in-law, Curtis (Barbara) Laster and Thomas Laster, Jr.; two God sisters, Avis J. (Aubrey) Smith and Betty P. (Curtis) Robinson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
