Donald Carlton Carter, “D.C.” the son of Samuel T. and Gloria W. Carter, was born on June 6, 1951, in Albany, Georgia.
He was united in Holy Matrimony in 2004 to Queen E. Carter. He leaves to mourn his passing a daughter, Tyisha Blue of San Diego, CA; three sisters, Janice C. Williams of Columbia, MD, Constance C. Jackson (Thaddeus) of Albany, GA and Gloria J. Carter of Albany, GA; two grandchildren, Sydney and Bryce McMillan of San Diego CA, a host of loved ones, family and friends.
On April 11, 2020, as the scripture says in the book of 2 Timothy 4:7, “I Have Fought A Good Fight, I Have Finished My Course I Have Kept the Faith.” He had fought “A Good Fight.” He was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Albany, Georgia, under the ministerial leadership of Dr. John Wesley Lowe.
Donald attended the Dougherty County Public School System and graduated with Monroe High Class of 1969. He participated in extracurricular activities including the marching band in high school and college where he enjoyed playing the trombone. He attended Albany State College (University).
Donald was a US Navy Veteran. Upon enlistment he was assigned to the US Navy-Orlando, Florida (Basic Training). He served his military career in the occupational field of Seaman. Also stated on the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), formerly CVA-63, and supercarrier second naval ship named after Kitty Hawk, SC. His duty stations included NAS Pensacola, FL, and NAS San Diego, CA-Support Services, Direct & Indirect Fleet Support; waterfront operations, force protection (security), supply, Navy Exchange and Commissary. Other occupations include Miller Coors/Molson Coors, (formerly Miller Brewery) —Security Officer; Publix Supermarket—Distribution & Logistics and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital—Security Officer.
Another one of his great past times was music, and often hosting and performing duties as a “D.J.” for special occasions and events.
