Eddie Robinson, Sr. Obituary

Eddie Baer Robinson, Sr. was born on June 22, 1940, in Albany, Georgia, to Ms. Addie Lee Haley and Eddie Lee James. Eddie was the youngest of his mother’s children. From an early age, he demonstrated a love for life and a strong foundation in faith and values that would guide him throughout his journey. He completed his grade school and high school education in Albany before proudly serving in the United States Army, where he earned an honorable discharge.

After his time in the military, Eddie pursued higher education at Albany State College (now Albany State University), where he majored in Sociology. It was at Albany State that Eddie not only earned his degree but also made lifelong friendships and connections, including becoming a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated during his junior year.

Eddie’s devotion to his family was unparalleled. He was a steadfast and loving father, always striving to ensure that his children were provided for and equipped for life’s challenges. His warmth, wisdom, and smile were constants in their lives, and his influence as a father and role model shaped them in ways that words cannot fully capture.

Beyond his role as a family man, Eddie was known for his vibrant personality and deep sense of community. He was a true “people person,” and his smile and laughter were infectious. He never met a stranger, and his genuine kindness and welcoming spirit made him beloved by all who crossed his path. Eddie was also a trailblazer, making history as the first Black car salesman in Albany, Georgia. He became known around the city as the “Super Soul Salesman,” a testament to his charisma, dedication, and ability to connect with others.

Eddie’s faith was the foundation of everything he did. A deeply God-fearing man, he carried his Christian values with him everywhere, treating others with kindness, respect, and love.

On Monday, February 17, 2025, while peacefully resting in Albany, Georgia, God, in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to call His faithful servant home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Ms. Mercedes Griffin, Ms. Susie Lee Dixon, Ms. Doris “Tot” Williams, Ms. Ethel Haines, Ms. Mary James, Mr. B.D. Robinson, and Mr. David Lee James.

Eddie is survived by his children: Delphene [Andre] Lambert, Eddie B. Robinson, Jr., Corey [April] Robinson, DePhon R. Robinson, and Tia [Dudley] Robinson; and his siblings: Loland James and Lenora [Norman] McDaniels. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were touched by his warmth, generosity, and kindness.

While his physical presence will be deeply missed, Eddie’s legacy of love, faith, family, and community will continue to live on in the lives of all who knew him. His spirit will forever be remembered, and his memory will continue to inspire those who carry his legacy forward.

Rest in peace, “EB.” Your smile, your laughter, and your love will never be forgotten.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." (Matthew 25:23)
