Emma Harris Obituary

Emma Sue Harris was born to Wallace and Mable Taylor in Albany, GA, on March 20, 1933. She was the oldest child born to this union. Emma retired from Nestlé, where she worked for over 35 years. For over 60 years, she was married to the late Willie Harris who preceded her in death in 2012.

Emma loved hard and welcomed everyone with open arms. Her presence filled every atmosphere she graced, and her smile lit up every room she walked in. Her dance made every soul reap in joy, and her love melted every heart. She loved to dress nice and always made sure her daughters had everything they needed. Her favorite drink was Pepsi, and her favorite meal was Church’s chicken and a BBQ sandwich from Dairy Queen. Emma was the glue to our family as she comforted us through every pat. She will be missed from her spoken words to her acts of kindness. As we remember the index finger wave and her infectious presence, Emma has left an unforgettable imprint on our hearts. Although you have transitioned and gained your wings, you will always be loved.

On Saturday, September 16, 2023, Emma Sue Harris gained her wings as she transitioned from this earthly life to an eternal life. Emma Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Harris; her daughter, Lucinda Harris; her sisters, Mamie Wooden, Yvonne Taylor (Sidney) (Washington D.C.), and Juanita Williams (Philadelphia, PA); and her brother-in-law, Eddie Williams (Hampton, GA).

Precious memories of Emma Sue will be cherished by her daughters, Barbara Jean Harris (Albany, GA) and Mable Harris (Albany, GA); sisters, Betty Taylor-Coe (Albany, GA) and Imogene Taylor-Williams (Hampton, GA); grandchildren, Carla Harris (Marietta, GA), Alisea Keaton (Albany, GA), Sonya Harris (Albany, GA), Jamie Harris (Hampton, GA), Kimberly Harrison (Willie) (Albany, GA), Richard Keaton (wife) (Marietta, GA), Kennyecta Green (Samuel) (Albany, GA); and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and friends.
