Estella Bess Moore

Estella Bess Moore was born on August 10, 1936, to the union of Moses and Mattie Bess in Leesburg, Georgia. She was one of eight children and on January 23, 2021, Estella transitioned to join her parents and all of her siblings Mozella Peaks, Jessie Mae Mosely, Mattie Ruth Idlett, James Bess, Ulysses Bess, and Clarence Bess.

 

Estella Moore was married to the late Woodrow Moore. From this union, their beautiful daughter, Lavonda Moore, was born. Estella had a big heart and nurturing spirit. She was a foster mother to several children, raised her nephews, Sammie Mosley (Donalene Mosely), Donnell Peaks (Janice Peaks), and Donald (Daniel) Peaks, as her own, and helped raise her grandchildren.

 

Estella found Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Social Saving & Sewing Club for more than 35+ years and retired as a seamstress from National Linen Service. She enjoyed working, helping others, and serving her community--so much so, she worked part-time as a School Crossing Guard after her retirement. She was a great cook and baker and was known by family and friends for baking the best sweet potato pie and pound cake.

 

She leaves behind her daughter, LaVonda Moore; grandchildren, Tifanie Hudson and Travis Moore; great-granddaughter, Shaniah Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews, sisters- and brothers-in-law, cousins, and friends.
