Ms. Evelyn Edwards Davis was born April 1, 1930, to the late Jake Edwards, Sr. and Isadora Fluellen Edwards. On Saturday, January 30, 2021, God called her home to Heaven.
Ms. Davis confessed to Christ at an early age and became a member of Saint Mary Baptist Church. There she served on the Usher Board for many years. Later she joined Bible Way Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Sammie Pringle.
She retired from Moore Business Forms in 1992 where she worked for many years.
Ms. Evelyn Davis was a smart, strong, outspoken and God-fearing woman.
She is the last of eleven siblings who preceded her in death: brothers, Arnell Edwards, John Edwards, Jimmy Edwards, David Edwards, Charles Edwards, Rev. Jake Edwards, Jr., Willie Louis Edwards; and sisters, Nancy Gilyard, Elizabeth Bennett and Sarah Green.
She is the mother of nine children, four of whom preceded her in death, Rufus Wingfield, Jr. Rutha Dean Brown, Valdare Wingfield and Joel Wingfield.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Constance Lee, Nancy Richardson, Edward James (Shannon) Wingfield, Kelton (Angela) Swanigan and Donald Wingfield; two sisters-in-law; thirty-one grandchildren; fifty-seven great-grandchildren; and a host of great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
