Freddie Lee Blackmon, Sr. was born April 15, 1939, in Clay County, GA, the youngest child of the late Mr. Robert Blackmon, Sr. and Mrs. Ruby Wright Blackmon. At an early age, he joined Third Kiokee Baptist Church of Albany, GA.
He attended Monroe High School. After high school, he married Ozzie Emma Williams and to this union, three children were born.
Freddie entered the United States Army in 1956 where he served two years. He also worked for Bob’s Candies and Firestone of Albany, GA. He was a member of the King Solomon Lodge No. 14, proudly serving as past master mason. He received several merit certificates from the Scottish Rites Southern Jurisdiction Prince Hall.
He was a well-known person and loved by many. Freddie was a caring and wise gentleman who would give you his last and was always there for his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Robert Blackmon, Jr., and Mary Liza Anderson Coleman Blackmon.
He left to cherish his legacy and precious memories of his life a devoted daughter, Felicia Meridy (Guy); sons, Freddie Blackmon, Jr. (Hawaa) and Michael Blackmon of Albany, GA, daughter, Brenda Johnson of Rockledge, FL; sisters, Eula Miller, Carrie Reese, both of Albany, GA; brother, Toney Gonzalez of Tallahassee, FL; grandchildren, Ebony Blackmon (Sadat), Ashley Blackmon (Devon), Dominique Meridy (Ashlee), Nicole Johnson (Jameric), Taiwana Jenkins (Derrick), and Ingrid Blackmon; 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
