Henry Lee Sparks, Jr., better known as "Bud," was born on March 6, 1950, in Leesburg, Georgia. He was born to the late Emma Lee Sparks and Henry Lee Sparks, Sr. (His sister, Ella Mae Gardner and grandson, Kimmarion Nixon, preceded him in death.) He confessed Christ at an early age and entered Christian fellowship with New Hope AME Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as an usher. Later, he moved his membership to Zion Hope Baptist Church.
He attended the public schools of Lee County where he later obtained his high school diploma in 1970. he went on to further his education at Albany Vocational School (now Albany Technical College) where he received a certificate in Auto Collision and Repair; he later became a certified heavy equipment operator. His father always told him that hard work is what a man did, which prompted him to begin his workmanship at Stevenson Industries while still in high school. Deciding to settle into a more stable career path suitable for a family, he later became a certified rail repairman for Norfolk Southern Railway. For almost 30 years, he traveled to many different work environments throughout Georgia, East Alabama, and North Florida. After his professional tenure, he went on to medically retire, put the tracks down, and settle into enjoying family yet again.
During his career building years, Henry found time to fall in love and become a "family man." He joined in holy matrimony Ms. Cynthia Thorpe, his high school sweetheart. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Noelle Lynette Sparks and Kimberly Takara Sparks. They lived in marital bliss for 27 years until Cynthia transitioned to be with the Lord. Henry later married Sandra McCoy, and together they raised her daughter, Shanita Mann.
Keeping busy with hobbies and home projects. Bud enjoyed spending time with his family while still adhering to his father's words of wisdom. He enjoyed planning a variety of vegetables in his garden, something he learned as a young boy. In addition, he loved to spend his weekends exploring the woods with his beloved brother, Johnny B. and chopping trees with his brother for monetary gain. Usually, the enjoyment of a "cold brew" immediately followed after the hard work was completed!
Bud spent his final years of life being nursed and cared for by his daughters, Noelle and Kimberly, as well as his grandson, Jalen. He transitioned to his heavenly home Saturday, August 29, 2020, surrounded by his lovely daughters. He leaves to mourn his passing his two daughters, Noelle Holiday (Roderick) and Kimberly Sparks; four sisters, Stella Sparks, Emma Jean Sparks, Audra Sparks, and Cassandra Sparks; three brothers, Johnny B. Sparks, Jimmy Sparks (Leila), and Roger Sparks; an aunt, Yolanda Williams; an uncle, Mose Butts; nine grandchildren, Mark Nixon, Jr., Gathon Sparks, Za'Keiya Sparks, Za'Mek Sparks, Nathan Brown, Jalen Williams, Synthia Sparks, Charles Luster, and Darien Mitchell; a special giver, Jessica Harrell; a special brother, Charles Ross Hall, and a host nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
