We must not mourn as those without hope, for Mother Irene has gone to get the reward promised to all who faithfully serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Irene Virginia Green was born to the late Plemon, Sr., and Lucille (Broadway) Green on June 28, 1936.
She married William Wallace, Sr. on February 14, 1954. Through this union 6 children were born, 2 daughters and 4 sons: Denovia Jean Green (deceased), William Wallace, Jr. (deceased), Larry Wallace (deceased), Edward Charles Wallace (deceased), and David Wayne Wallace (deceased).
She worked at Miller Brewery (Molson-Coors) for 23 years until her retirement in 1999. She was also a member of IAM Machinist.
Mother Irene served as the Mother of the church at New Zion Hill and a member of the Mission Department.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Marilyn Armstrong; her dedicated caregivers, Lekikia Plummer, Ke’Shunna Ousley, and Henry Lee Jackson, III. She has 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She also has one sister, Dorthy Jackson of Union City, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
