Isiah Grant was born on April 29, 1940, in Newton, GA (Baker County) to the late Primus Grant and Bessie Grant.
At an early age Isiah joined St. Matthews Baptist Church in Newton, GA.
In 1954 his family moved from Baker County to Albany, GA. He was educated in the Dougherty County School System and graduated from Monroe High School in 1961. During that time he participated in the Albany Movement.
He was an auto mechanic by trade and worked at Hudson Motor and Champion Motors as a mechanic. Also, he worked at Singer Sewing Machine Company as a technician.
He moved to Connecticut where he met and married Melva Smith and to this union three (3) sons were born. In later years he moved to Detroit, MI and then to Atlanta, GA. In the early 1980's he moved back to Albany and married Vera Grant.
On March 15, 2020, Isiah was called home to rest in the care of his Heavenly Father. he was preceded in death by his father and mother; five sisters, Louise Jackson, Francis Crumbley, Luvenia Green, Osie Grubbs and Eva Miller; four brothers, Harold Grant, Hardwick Grant, Rufus Grant and T. W. Grant.
He leaves to cheris his memories three sons, Jimmy Grant, Jerry Grant and Gino Grant, all of Waterbury, CT and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
