James William Carr was the son of the late Rev. Jerry Carr, Sr. and Annie James Carr. He was born on October 19, 1947, in Albany, GA.
As an adolescent he attended River Road Elementary and Carver Junior High School in Dougherty County. He was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church under the pastorship of his father, the late Rev. Jerry Carr, Sr. James (Rooster) later moved to Detroit, Michigan; there he worked at Chrysler, Inc. until he retired.
On September 18, 2020, James William Carr was called home to eternal peace and rest.
Preceding him in death were four sisters, Mattie Headen, Marie Upshaw, Alice Filmore, Lela Cannon and five brothers, Bishop Jerry Carr, Raymond Carr, Al Carr, William Carr and Jerry James Carr.
He leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Temeka Carr of Detroit, MI; one son, James Hampton (Angie) of Valdosta, GA; a host of grands; six sisters, Ida M. (Calvin) Austin of Albany, GA, Ella M. Jones of Newark, NJ, Martha Whitehead of Albany, GA, Beatrice (Walter) Bullard of Albany, GA, Doretha Carroll of Albany, GA, and Queen Ester Brown of Albany, GA; three brothers, Dizzie L. Carr of Albany, GA, Jimmy Earl Carr of Albany, GA, and Hal (Lisa) Carr of Atlanta, GA; a very special friend, Maryland Simpson; a very special niece, Loretta Walters; a special supporter, E. J. Johnson; a special great-great-niece, Jasmine Harris; special nephews, Charles, Chris, and SPC Army Rashan Ellis; Annie Brown; Xavier Reese; Jabora (Tay Tay) Praiton; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
