"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for l am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Matthew 11:28-30, KJV
We bid farewell and Eternal Peace and Rest to our Loved One:
James Kevin Sterling
James Kevin Sterling of Stone Mountain, GA, “Kevin”, as we affectionately called him (as named by his then, 5-year-old sister), was born December 21, 1981, in Temple, TX. Kevin passed on May 12, 2021, in his home in Stone Mountain, GA, at the age of 39. Kevin was born from the union of William Sterling of San Antonio, TX, and Vertice Williams Sterling of Albany, GA.
Kevin spent his formative years traveling with his family throughout numerous military posts. Kevin was a Vet inspired by his Dad's service to our country, at age 17, after graduating high school. He enlisted and served 2 years in the Army, discharged with an Honourable Discharge. Kevin graduated from Bradwell Institute High School, Hinesville, GA, class of 1999. After graduation, Kevin began his enlistment period in the Army, and a few days after he turned 18, married his high school sweetheart, Antoinette Hayes. Kevin advanced his education in Personnel Management and worked in Customer Service. Kevin was pursuing his CDL to begin a truck driving career, as inspired by his high school and long-term friend, Cedrick Perry of Hinesville, GA.
Kevin leaves to celebrate his Eternal Peace and Rest: His Mother and Dad; Sister: Sherika Townley of Savannah, GA, ( Chris—children: Deonte, Journey, Cheyenne, Chris Jr.); Sister-in-Christ: Nelsy Sanchez of Castle Rock, CO, (child: Alanis); Brother: William Sterling, Jr. of Pooler, GA, (child: Deja); Brother: ToRic Loron Sterling of Savannah, GA (Heather—child: Olyvia); SFC Antoinette Reid of Ft. Kevin will always be remembered ( as Nelsy wrote) "as the one with a Gentle Soul, who always went the extra mile to help family, how ever he could. He would give freely, anything you wanted that he had, and would insist you take it, even if you didn't want it! He was a forgiving and loving person. He "Tried Hard" to please to find his place in this world. I believe God grabbed him and called him out of his world that was cruel to him, saying, ‘Rest. Come unto Me and Rest: you don't have to try no more.’” We all miss Kevin, dearly, but we find comfort and joy, knowing that Kevin is Resting and does not have to "Try" anymore.
