Janice Glee Perkins

Janice Glee Perkins, 60, passed peacefully from this life on the evening of January 21, 2020. Surrounding herself with family and friends helped her to fight the battle of cancer for five years.

Janice was one of six girls, born on May 29, 1959, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Sarah N. Mitchell and the late Zane Perkins. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Providence, Rhode Island. Pastored by Rev. Earl H. Harley for over 40 years. There she learned about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was baptized at a young age. Janice played the Lead Bass Guitar in the Church Choir.

Janice graduated from Central High School in Providence Rhode Island in 1979. While in high school she worked at the downtown Providence State House taking dictations for representatives in the method of short hand. She worked at Sonitrol Security as a Security Monitor, was s part-time bartender and her last occupation that she loved was a brick layer. She started off as a laborer and worked her way up to a journeyman. This profession allowed her to travel. In 2005 Janice moved from Providence, Rhode Island to Virginia for 1 year then to Columbia, South Carolina where she resided.

Janice was preceded in death by her father, Zane Perkins and her older sister, Pamela Perkins.

Janice leaves to cherish her memories: mother, Sarah N. Mitchell; four sisters, Beverly Perkins (Albany, GA), Debbie Perkins (Tifton, GA), Gwendolyn Perkins (Albany, GA), and Petrina Abernathy (Suffolk, VA); two brothers, Steven Mitchell (Providence, RI) and Vincent Mitchell (Detroit, Michigan); two aunts, June Lindsey (Melvin) (Pensacola, FL) and Juanita Graham (Pensacola, FL); one uncle, Carl Graham (Pamela) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

We will all miss her laughter and sense of humor that she brought to us all. We love you dearly, Janice.
