Mr. Joseph "Lee" McDonald was born to the late Hillard and Willie Lee McDonald on March 24, 1949, in Smithville, GA. He was a graduate of Lee County Training School. he became a member of St. Paul at an early age.
Lee was always a hard worker and family man. He started his work history at Interstate Trucking, Hauling Refuse, and later retired from the City of Albany Public Works Department after 20 years.
He was affectionately known as "Country Boy". He had a passion for country living. He was an avid hunter, loved fishing, sports, and gardening. Every year he was asking his grand which one was going to help in his watermelon field. He was always telling jokes or playing tricks or just having fun. He was also a music lover and loved to sing and perform. Even though he retired he still got up and out every morning to meet up with friends, work on his vehicles or travel to Lee County to have fun with his cousins.
Joseph was a fighter and fought for his life until his body grew tired on January 30th. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Joseph "Sugarbear" McDonald; three sisters, Carrie Hall, Minnie McDonald, and Christine Coley. He was a devoted father to Tarsha Medlock (Steven) and his two sons, Joseph Lopez McDonald (Deaundra) and Cantrell McDonald. He is remembered in love by a dear friend, Linda Jones. He was affectionately known as Grandpa/Papa Lee/Pops to his grandkids, Quindathion Benton, Keyunshay McDonald, Queambria Benton, Steven Medlock, Jacobe' McDonald, Jayden Medlock, Maci McDonald, and a host of special grandkids, He also leaves to cherish his memories three great-grands; two sisters, Inez Northern and Irene Jackson (Joseph); two brothers, Hillard McDonald (Doris) and Alton McDonald; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins (some as close as a brother).
Joseph finally gets his rest at McAfee Grove Baptist Church.
