Joyce Vickerson Powell was born on July 11, 1951, to the late Eldora Brown Vickerson and the late Walter Lee Vickerson.
Joyce attended school in Terrell County and graduated from Carver High School. Joyce was married to the late Willie James Powell. To this union, one child was born.
Joyce moved from Dawson to Albany where she began a career at Palmyra Park Hospital in Food Service. She retired after 37 years of faithful service.
Joyce was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Lee Vickerson, Leonick Vickerson and Eddie Lee Vickerson; a sister, Lillie Ruth Vickerson Murray; and one sister-in-law, Janie Vickerson.
Joyce leaves to cherish her many loving memories, a son, Eric Powell (Sylvia) of Fitzgerald, GA; three sisters, Ruby Dean Sweeney, Glenda Crump and Marion Vickerson, all of Albany, GA; a sister-in-law, Vera Vickerson; two grandsons, Lamontrez Luke and Ouamaine Powell; three great-granddaughters, Lazia Clark, Carmen Powell, and Caitlyn Powell; a great-niece she raised as her own, Lannetta Miles; one Godsister, Janice Kegler; one Godbrother, Theodore Raybun, all of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
