Larry Darnell Laster was born on March 27, 1961, to the late Thomas Laster, Sr., and the late Betty Riley in Albany, Georgia. He was the fourth of five children.
Larry attended grade school in the Dougherty County School System and was a graduate of Westover High School. After graduation, he decided to serve his country in the United States Navy. After four years of distinguished military service, he returned to Albany, Georgia, to embark on a career in law enforcement as a police officer.
In 1985 Larry met Charylene Allen, who would eventually become his wife and best friend. They built a life together for 34 years until her passing in August of 2021.
In 1985 he answered his calling to help others with the Albany Police Department as a patrolman. During his tenure with APD, he was a member of the S.W.A.T. team for 10 years. He was a valued and respected officer who rose to the rank of Lieutenant. He retired after 29 years of service. After five years of retirement, he desired to be of service again and returned to the Albany Police Department as the fleet manager in 2019 until his passing. Larry was also a devoted member of Another Level Motorcycle Club of Albany, Georgia.
Larry leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Charnell Laster; son, Sean (Kellie) Laster; mother-in-law, Hannah Miller; three sisters, Wanda Renee Laster, Patricia (Herrod) Beasley, Eulanda (Steven) Brown; two brothers, Thomas Laster, Jr., and Curtis (Barbara) Laster; and a host of aunties, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
