Lula Belle Davis, a devoted Christian, devoted family member, and dedicated educator who touched countless lives, passed away peacefully and was escorted to heaven by the angels on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. She was 80 years old.
The firstborn of five children, Lula Belle Davis entered this world on March 10, 1944, in Albany, GA, to the late John Ira Davis, Sr. and Ella Street Davis. She was educated in the Dougherty County Public School System and was a 1961 graduate of Monroe High School where she played basketball and completed courses with an emphasis in business office machines. Lula earned a B. S. Degree in Business Education from Albany State College in 1965 and a Master's Degree in Business Education from Georgia State University (Atlanta, GA) in 1971.
Lula held former memberships with the Albany Chamber of Commerce, School for Children, and ARC. She held current memberships with the Albru1y Board of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
A key factor in Lula's legacy was her ability to shape a future of hope and a spirit of excellence for those she encountered. Lula spent over sixty years in the field of education inspiring and uplifting: young minds and was a passionate advocate for education who believed in the power of knowledge and hard work to transform lives. She began her teaching career as a high school teacher in Lumpkin, GA, and went on to other positions of achievement as a business education instructor at Albany State College. She ended her educational teaching career with Albany Technical College as a business education instructor.
Lula made a seamless transition from an educator to an equally rewarding career as a business entrepreneur. She was the owner of Nikki's Laundromat, a sales agent for Franklin Insurance Company, and established herself as a consummate real estate professional as the Founder, Owner, and Principal Broker of Lula B. Davis Realty Company, Inc. here in the Good Life City of Albany, GA, specializing in both residential and commercial properties. She assisted numerous persons in becoming first-time homeowners as well as repeat customers choosing to enhance their real estate portfolio.
As a friend, Lula was faithful, thoughtful, and kind. She enjoyed sports and experienced great fun playing pinball machines and bowling with friends and colleagues where she won numerous trophies as the celebrated "strike queen." She loved gardening and had a tremendous love for flowers and all the beauty of God's creation. Lula also loved comedy. She would perform her Moms Mabley comedy skit at Albany Technical College by popular demand.
As the oldest child, Lula was first to do most everything, and she accepted the challenge given to her by her parents of being a role model for her siblings, knowing that their eyes were on her and her success ensured them that they too had a great chance at success. The Davis children were reared to love one another and operate as "all for one and one for all." An example on full display was when the family would attend Albany State College graduation exercises just to see Lula march in with the faculty. What a proud moment that was!
Lula's love for God was manifested at the tender age of five when she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. The Holy Spirit inspired her to sing a new song, "It was my mother's light shining in my soul." Being brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, she went on to become a gifted singer, lead guitarist, dynamic orator, Sunday School Teacher, steward board member (Pentecost Tabernacle of Christ), State Secretary for Church of God in Christ Northern Georgia Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop John F. Thomas, Prelate. and many other roles in ministry. She was the Founder and Pastor of Vision Anew Ministries where she worked with ministers, pastors, and church and community leaders across social economic and denominational lines in an effort to enhance the growth and professional development of the people of God
She later joined Greater Joy Celebration of Praise MinisLries, Inc. serving faithfully until her health decline and transition under the leadership of Archbishop Q. S. Caldwell, ThD., D. D.
Lula will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, Christian community laborers, and former students. Her legacy as a dedicated educator, entrepreneur, and woman of faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her for generations to come.
