Mary L. Colbert was born in Savannah, Georgia, on November 6, 1931. She was raised in Brunswick, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of the late Verdis Colbert, Sr., and Weathie Robinson.
She was educated in the Glynn County School System. Throughout school, she was an adventurous young lady with a zeal for learning.
From a very early age, Mary accepted Christ as her personal savior. Mary embraced life with open arms. She enjoyed cooking and her all-time favorite, fishing. Mary took on various cooking jobs for several businesses. She didn’t mince words and was determined to live life on her own terms, known for her caring, kind, and loving heart throughout the neighborhood. She was a loving mother and grandmother who had quiet strength. She always had a smile and never complained. She often sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. Mary loved engaging everyone around her in endless hours of conversations. Her glowing smile and personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by both parents, siblings; Catherine, David, Ralph, Verdis, Jr., and Willie D., and children, Barbara, David, Eugene, Regina, and Sarah.
Early on Monday morning, February 27, 2023, God sent an angel to the bedside of his beloved, Mary. She then transitioned to the arms of her waiting Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Loving memories of Mary will always be cherished by her lifetime partner, Will Williams; her children, Dorothy, Frank C. Gary, Green H. Gary, Jr. (Annie), Mary Riggins (William), and Willie J. Colbert (Brenda), and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
