Mary W. Russ, 88 of Albany, Georgia died on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at her daughter’s residence.
Mary was born on February 13, 1932 in Albany, GA to Charlie Worts, Sr. and Janie Worts-Thornton. She had 2 brothers, Charlie (Dorothy) Worts Jr. and Edgar (Mary) Worts, and 1 sister, Bobbie (Louis) McCloud. They all preceded her in death. She graduated valedictorian of her class from Madison High School and she attended Albany State College, majoring in Education.
Mary made a dedication to Jehovah and was baptized in 1969 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved to preach and tell people about Jehovah and his kingdom, which initiated her many years of pioneering. She was a faithful and dedicated servant of Jehovah for more than 50 years until her death.
She married John Dean Isler, who preceded her in death. They had 3 children, Glenn Dean Isler, Beverly Yvonne Isler-Meeks, and Michael Maurice Isler. She later married Newell Russ, Jr., who also preceded her in death, and had an additional three children, Newell Russ III, Desmond Russ, and Bianca Latia Russ.
She leaves behind many loving memories and was survived in death by her six children, Glenn Dean Isler, Sunset, AZ; Beverly Yvonne (Jonathan) Meeks, Albany, GA; Michael Isler, Atlanta, GA; Newell (Loretta) Russ III, Austin, TX; Desmond (Chiho) Russ, Oklahoma City, OK; and Bianca Latia Russ, Augusta, GA. She leaves behind many grandchildren: Sherilyn Isler-Wright, Garrett Isler, Tanya Isler, Michael Isler Jr., Robbie Isler, Quinisha Meeks, Jonesha Meeks, Jamale Meeks, Jamia Meeks, Sean Russ, Necole Russ, Lane Russ, Glenn Russ, Latia Russ, Tega Russ, Janay Russ, Tay Tay, and Andrew. She also leaves behind a host of great grandkids: Tahjalyn, Adam, Skylar, Summer, Brianna, Javontae, Mercedes, Danielle, and Jaquay…. plus, great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her loving dog, Jolie Meeks.
