Michael Jerome “Mike” Rouse was born on January 29, 1960, in Albany, Georgia. He was the youngest son born to the late Bessie Mae Rouse and George Credditt. Mike confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Friendship Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia.
Mike was educated in the Dougherty County School System and was a proud graduate of Albany High School, class of 1978. He enlisted in the US Navy on November 3, 1978. Mike completed his Basic Training in RTC San Diego, California. After completing “A” school training as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate, Mike’s duty station was 32nd Street Naval Base, San Diego, California. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on November 2, 1982, after completing a four-year tour of duty. After returning to Albany, Georgia, Mike became gainfully employed with the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Albany, Georgia, until the plant closed. He then relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, and worked many jobs. Most recently, until his untimely death, he was employed with the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital VAMC Atlanta, Decatur, Georgia.
To cherish his loving memories are three sisters, Rev. Mary Rouse Edwards, Carrie L. Rouse, and Belinda F. Rouse of Albany, Georgia; four brothers, Charlie (Barbara Lynn) Rouse, Hosey (Laura) Rouse, Harold Bennett of Albany, Georgia, and Gregory Burnett, El Pasco, Texas; one aunt, Mrs. Marie H. Barrett; and one great-aunt, Mrs. Martha Kalip, Tallahassee, Florida. Additionally, he leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins like brothers and sisters; a god-sister, and a god-brother who grew up in the home with him, classmates, and friends.
