Pastor James Taylor, Jr. was born December 25, 1946, in Sasser, Georgia, to James Taylor, Sr. and Linda Grant. Pastor Taylor transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, April 11, 2020, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leroy Taylor.
He was educated in the Sumter County School System, Americus, Georgia. His love of the Lord led him to become an ordained minister December 19, 1990, at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, Albany, Georgia, and January 14, 1993, at Christian Movement COGIC Inc., Albany, Georgia. Pastor Taylor worked diligently for the City of Albany, Georgia, as a Transit Driver for 33 years, and as a bus driver for the Dougherty County School System.
During his leisure time he enjoyed playing checkers, playing pool and was active as a Mason (Legal Aid Chapter).
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sonya S. Bailey; sons, Darrell Taylor, and Lil James Taylor; brother, Jack Taylor (Wanda); sister, Betty Peterson (Pete); as well as nieces, nephews, aunts and a host of other family members and friends.
