Patricia Laster Obituary

Patricia Whitaker Laster was born in Albany, GA, on July 20, 1949, to the late Leon Whitaker and Mattie Johnson Whitaker. Patricia was educated in the Dougherty County School System. After graduating from Monroe Comprehensive High School, she attended nursing school in New Jersey. Upon her return from New Jersey, she returned to her native Albany, where she met and married James "Bo" Williams. From this union, two children were born, James Dexter Williams and Tracee L. Williams. She pursued her career at Palmyra Medical Center until 1991, and she continued her career working at Phoebe Putney Hospital where she met and married Willie Laster. Together, they raised there adopted son, Koree Williams. She departed this life on August 30. 2020, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

Ms. Pat, as she was affectionately known, loved her church family and friends. She was a faithful member of the Union Missionary Baptist Church. She worked on the Pastor's Aide ministry for many years until her passing. Additionally, Ms. Pat was one of the ladies who helped to form a Girl Scout troop at Union Baptist Church. Her greatest passions were cooking and fellowshipping with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, James Dexter Williams and her husband, Willie Laster.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Tracee L. Williams (Rickey); her son, Koree Williams; a granddaughter, Dashia Williams, Atlanta, GA; a grandson, James Williams; brother, Johnny W. Whitaker; sister-in-law, Rita Whitaker; aunt, Gladys J. Corbett, Columbus, GA; and cousin, Carolyn Chestang. She had several bonus sons and daughters, Derrick (Angela) Jackson, Brad Holly, Dexter (Carla) Malone, Stephanie (Romunda) Lloyd, Stateboro, GA; Danita (Karl, Jr.) Wiggins, and Kesha (Kerry) Williams. She had three special friends, Wanda Faye Fill, Harriet Gainer, and Jackie Stephens. She also leaves to mourn a beloved family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends from Dallas, TX, Atlanta, GA, Columbus, GA, and Albany, GA.
