Qunia Roberts Obituary

Qunia LaPaula Roberts was born on July 27, 1992, at Camp Lejuene Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, NC, to Paul Roberts and Melita Nichols Roberts. She confessed her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 10 and was baptized at Gethsemane Worship Center in Albany, GA, by Bishop Frederick Williams, Sr. Qunia was involved with her church family where she was on the praise and worship dance team, served in the Young Adult Ministry, Ladies By Choice, and sang in the choir in her early years. After she relocated to the Atlanta, GA area, she later joined under watch care The dReam Center Church of Atlanta in Decatur, GA, under the leadership of Bishop William Murphy, Jr. where she was active in the 24/7 Young Adult and College Ministry and Dance Ministry.

"Nia", as she was affectionately called attended middle school in Dougherty and Lee County, Georgia. She graduated with honors from Monroe Comprehensive High School in Albany, GA, in 2010. While at Monroe, she was a member of the Chorus, Girls Soccer Team, and was captain of the Flag Line for the Golden Tornadoes Marching Band under the leadership of Mr. Jamar Smith. She received an Academic and Band (Flag Line) scholarship from Benedict College in Columbia, SC, where she was a member of the Benedict College Marching Tiger Band/Flag Line and NAACP. Qunia was also the recipient of a scholarship from the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) in 2010. Nia majored in business and later attended Savannah State University for a brief period. She had the privilege to travel all over the world since her father served in the United States Marine Corps until his retirement in 2009. Qunia visited such places as: Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Okinawa, Japan, and San Diego, California.

Qunia recently relocated back to Leesburg, Georgia, earlier this year after living in the Atlanta, Georgia, area for a few years. At an early age, she had a drive about herself and was focused on making business and career advancements. Qunia was blessed to have worked for various big companies such as Humana, Ciox, Skywriter MD, and was most recently employed as a software implementation specialist with HCI Group based in Jacksonville, Florida. She loved her work and did it with excellency . Her jobs afforded her the opportunity to work and travel to places such as Colorado Springs, CO; Greenville, SC; Charleston, SC; Boca Rotan, FL; and she most recently had a job assignment to New York, NY in early March 2020.

Qunia had a love for people, and her contagious smile would light up any room. She was soft spoken and had a way of speaking eloquently. She loved to dance, perfect her make-up/hair artistry skills from watching YouTube, go shopping, and twirling the flag. Qunia's favorite TV shows were: The Golden Girls, Momma's Family, The Maury Show, and Sabrina The Teenage Witch. She enjoyed listening to music too; some of her favorite music artist included Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Tye Tribett, and Beyonce' to name a few.

Quinia was proceeded in death by her maternal grandmother, Laura Mae Bruce Nichols (Albany, GA); her paternal grandparents, Walter and Helen Roberts (Opelousas, LA); two uncles, Walter Roberts, Jr. (Houston, TX) and Noah J. Roberts (Beaumont, TX).

Qunia's surviving family members include her mother, Melita Nichols (previously Walker) of Leesburg, GA; her father and stepmother, Retired SSGT (USMC) Paul A. and Sho Roberts of Cypress, TX; her brother, Jonathan Walker, Jr., aka "Lil Jon" of Leesburg, GA; her maternal grandfather and Mema , Nathaniel and Josephine Nichols of Albany, GA; her uncle, Nathaniel Nichols, Jr., "Nate", Albany, GA; her special little cousin, Shaniya Nichols, Albany, GA; her aunts, Hattie Jean West of Opelousas, LA; Laura West of Sunset, LA; Evelyn Acheampong and Linda Charles, both of Houston, TX; her adopted godmothers, Lawanna F. Johnson, Albany, GA, and Annette Wilson Stephens, Albany, GA; adopted godsisters: Kenyata, LaShonte', Jalexus, Nikki, and Peachess; her best friend, Alexis Lopes- Austin; goddaughter, Kylie and a host of loving relatives and friends.
