Raashon Hention

February 4, 1972 ~ January 10, 2022 (age 49)

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1

A Time To Be Born – On February 4, 1972, Annie Lizza Hention and Eugene Harry Smith welcomed the birth of their twin sons, Raashon and Raashea Hention. Affectionately called “Shon” by the family, he was Smart, High Spirited, Outspoken, and a Neat Dresser.  He was educated in Dougherty, Fulton, and Clayton County School Systems. He attended Albany Technical College where he studied drafting and architecture. He received his HVAC certificate and worked in the Airconditioning Industry. In the last few years, Shon moved to LaGrange, GA, and was employed by XLC Duracell and Hyundai Mobis Manufacturing as a Production Technician.

A Time To Serve – Raashon accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. Although he had challenges and struggles along life’s path, he was an avid reader and studied God’s word and was always hopeful for victory.

A Time To Reflect – When we think of Shon, we remember a charismatic and handsome young man who, along with his twin brother, garnered so much attention, they were the apple of our family’s eye.  Doted with lots of love and affection by their mother, Ann, Aunt Tee, and Aunt Gloria, one would have thought they had three Moms! Shon was very relatable and could hold a meaningful conversation with anyone. He was quite an impressive young man with so much unrealized potential…….

A Time To Die – Raashon answered his eternal summons on Monday, January 10, 2022. It was seven weeks to the day that he lost the “only” woman he could never get back, his loving and faithful mother, Annie Sommerville (November 22, 2021).  In addition to his mother, Raashon was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Smith; grandparents, Mathew and Violet Hention; Aunts, Ellen Parker and Gloria Jones; and uncles, Calvin, Bobby, and Thomas Hention, John L. Jones and Bill Smith.

A Time To Mourn – He leaves to cherish his loving memory, twin brother, Raashea Hention of Albany, GA, sister, Andoria Smith of Detroit, Mich, and brother, Abdul Smith of Woodlands, TX. He leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of his nephew and nieces, O’Shea and Angel Tate of Cincinnati, OH, and Jazmyne and Shelbi Smith of Detroit, Mich.  Three aunts, Ruth Quirles (LT), Carol Smith and Lois Nelson all of Detroit, Mich. Special cousins, Gregory Jones (Renay), Victor Jones, of Albany, GA, Hiram Jones (Jimesia) of Stockbridge, GA and Tongie Leonce (Ken), of Allen, TX and a cherished and devoted ex-wife, Yolanda Williams of Albany, GA. along with a host of family and friends.
