Richard Lee Green, Sr. was born on March 30, 1959, in Albany, Georgia, to the late Mr. Casey Green, Sr. and Mrs. Luevina Grant Green. He was baptized at an early age. Richard was educated in the Dougherty County School System and attended Monroe Comprehensive High School. After completing his education, he began his career at Southern Rebar, where he worked faithfully until his retirement in 2024.
In 1977, Richard married his beloved wife, and together they went on to have five children. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. Richard had a heart of gold—if he could help you, he would. He had a passion for welding and loved teaching his grandchildren the trade.
On October 14, 2025, Richard peacefully departed this life at home, with his loving wife by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Richard Lymon Green and Shukobie D. Green; his sister, Christine Green Armstrong; and his brothers, Casey Green and Marvin Green, Sr.
Richard leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 50 years, Mrs. Bertha Carter Green; his children, Jermaine V. Carter (Zariera S. Carter), Shureka G. Green, and Richard L. Green, Jr. (Shontasia Green); his sisters, Dolores G. Marshall (Lawrence Marshall) and Lavonne G. Robinson; his brother, Donald Green (Ditrona Green); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who are all left to cherish his memory. Richard will be truly missed by everyone who knew him. He’s gone but will never be forgotten—keep him forever in your hearts and memories.
