On the day of our Lord, August 23, 1953, a baby girl, Ruby Nell, was born to the late Curlie Mae Stephens and the late J. W. Ausby. She was blessed to have two loving families. She was reared and cared for in the home of her beloved grandparents, the late James Lawrence, Sr., and the late Laurena Seymore Ausby. They loved and cared for her throughout her childhood and into adulthood.
“Rooster,” as she was affectionately called by her grandmother, Laurena, was reared in a Christian, and loving home. Ruby’s first love for Christ came when she joined the Charity Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Doles, GA, in September 1967, under the pastorage of the late Rev. R. L. Jones. Later, she joined the New St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Oakfield, GA, under the pastorage of Rev. S. E. Curlie. She faithfully attended the New St. James Missionary Baptist Church and continued to attend under the new leadership of Pastor Rev. Larry James. Some of her greatest moments while attending church were hearing choirs sing and the preachers preach the holy word of God. Clapping and singing to the beat of gospel music were her greatest attributes.
During her school years, she attended Ossie Whearry Elementary, the historical J. W. Holley High, and graduated from Worth County High in 1973. Ruby was honored with a high school completion certificate/diploma. After high school, while living under the care of her mother, Mrs. Stephens-Davis, and her aunt, Mrs. Martha Ausby Corhen, she attended The Primus Adult Day Care Center. This became her true love for growing mentally, physically, and socially. Her fourth transition was at 1717 Northwood Group Home with The ARC of Southwest Georgia in October 2017. This was where she found solitude, love, peace, and much joy. “Miss Ruby”, as she was known to the ARC of Southwest Georgia Family, continued her trek attending the Primus Adult Day Care Center, Albany, GA, until she became critically ill three weeks before her passing on May 25, 2022, at Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama.
In addition to the loss of her parents, and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Anthony R. Ausby, Oakfield, GA, and Frank Leon Davis, Albany, GA.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by her families, Earl & Dr. Linda A. Nelson; Elder Arthur & Evangelist Sherryl A. Haugabrook; Bishop McArthur & Evangelist Carolyn A.
