Samuel Lee Wilson, Sr. (Milkman) was 8th of 13 children born to Dea. Lawrence and Sis. Elizabeth Wilson in Albany, Georgia, on October 1, 1936.
Samuel was educated through the Dougherty County School System and graduated from Monroe High School, Class of 1957. He also attended Albany State College.
He gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Arcadia Baptist Church.
On May 12, 1959, he married the love of his life, Virginia Shepherd, who preceded him in death. To this union, four children were born. Samuel Lee, Jr. of Albany; Alvin (Nancy) of Glen Burnie, Maryland; Timothy (Carla) of Albany, and Charlotte of Albany.
His favorite past times were watching sports (New York Giants; Boston Celtics; Los Angeles Dodgers); watching Westerns; tending to and working in his yard; decorating; and celebrating good times with friends at Krystal’s. He was often called “ID” and known to many as the “Milkman".
Our peaceful and loving Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather departed this earthly home on Thursday, September 8, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five sisters, four brothers, nieces, and nephews.
Samuel leaves to cherish his loving memories: four sons, Samuel Jr., Alvin, Timothy, and Travis Mathis; one daughter, Charlotte; two daughters-in-law, Nancy and Carla; one sister, Helen Smith; two brothers, James (Diane) Wilson of Charlotte, North Carolina and Milton Wilson of Leslie, Georgia; one sister-in-law; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
