Shirley Jean Flood

Shirley Jean Flood was born in Albany, GA, on December 6, 1957, to the late Enoch and Mozelle Raines Sr. At an early age, Shirley accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Arcadia Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the usher board.

She was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe High School in 1975. Shirley was an active student and athlete participating as a Monroe varsity cheerleader where she earned a full-ride cheer scholarship to Tift College. She attended Tift College where she majored in business management and participated in the archery club. She continued her collegiate career at Albany Tech where she majored in culinary arts and Troy University where she majored in business management.

Shirley was united in marriage to Willie Flood, and their union was blessed with three children - Patricia, Beverly, and Amanda. Shirley was a beam of light who never met a stranger. She was not only a mother to her three girls but also a source of strength and love to many who encountered her. Shirley loved her family unconditionally and delighted in spending time with them.

On December 26, 2022, Shirley transitioned from this earthly life to eternal resting peace. She was predeceased by her ex-husband/best friend, Willie Flood; and four siblings, Martha Raines, Enoch Raines Jr., Barbara Brown, and George Raines.

Cherished memories will forever remain with her children, Patricia Flood of Augusta, GA, Beverly Flood of Albany, GA, Amanda Flood of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Quintessa Carnegie, Tyran Harvey Jr., Taylin Harvey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
