Victor Wright Obituary

Mr. Victor Steven Wright “Vick” was born on August 18, 1969, in Albany, Georgia.  He was the middle child of the late Johnny Lee Wright, Sr., and Estella Richardson Wright. He departed his earthly life on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at home with his mother, daughter, and other family members at his bedside.

Victor confessed Christ at an early age, was baptized, and united with Saint Matthew Baptist Church of Leesburg, Georgia. As a true believer, he believed that whatever happens in life, God's will would be done.

He was educated in the Dougherty County School System and graduated from Westover High School in Albany, Georgia, in 1987.  Upon completion of high school, Victor enlisted in the Army, where he earned a Sharpshooter Badge, Parachutist Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Professional Development Medal; however, his primary specialty was as a Food Service Specialist, for which he received the Army Food Ribbon.

After leaving the military, he became a firefighter with the city of Albany for a few years. He was later employed as a tire builder at Cooper Tire until health challenges prevented him from continuing to work. Victor was a funny, happy, and respectful person. He was a loving son and brother, a doting father and grandfather, and a loyal and true friend to many. He was a skilled craftsman at heart who could repair almost anything. He loved to go fishing, and was especially fond of grilling – making sure his aunts had barbecue on holidays, continuing a tradition started by his father. He had a soft heart and was always willing to give support and encouragement to those around him.

He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory a daughter, Shateria Dent; a granddaughter, DeZiah Dent; a grandson, Shauntavious Peterson, Jr.; his mother, Estella Richardson Wright, a brother, Johnny Wright, Jr.; three sisters, Rhonda Wright, Robin Wright, and Kenya Wright; best friend and cousin, Vance Adams; aunts and uncles, Ernestine Adams, Lorraine Jackson, Minnie Bryant, Gwen Dollarson (Erwin), Janie Holloway (James), Elizabeth Head, Joyce Anighoro, Mary Wright, Linda Wright, Deborah Wright, Charlie Wright, David Wright, and Greg Wright; a special friend and ex-wife, Kawanis Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
