Waymon Van Tyson was born on April 5, 1950, in Albany, GA, to the late Leroy Tyson, Sr., and Fannie Daniels Tyson.
He was educated in Miami, FL, at Miami Jackson High and later attended Monroe Comprehensive High School in Albany, GA.
He worked at Rhodes Furniture, Rock Seminole, Flint River Cotton Mill, and also became a self-employed painter.
On Saturday morning, December 18, 2021, God decided Van was done with troubles of the world and called him home. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a son, Terrence (Shiela) of El-Paso, TX; two daughters, Shephanie Gilliard and Latosha Gilliard of Albany, GA; one sister, Betty Rivers of Pembroke Pines, FL; one brother, Karl (Shwanda) Tyson of Bonaire, GA; a very special favorite cousin, Walter “JIT” Armstrong; a special friend of fifteen years, Martha Johnson; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
