William R. Coley Jr. was born on July 9, 1950, to Mr. William R. Coley, Sr., and Susie Coley in Albany, GA. His grandmother, Miss Mary Francis Hill Coley, a well-known midwife in Albany, delivered him in his childhood home on Jefferson St.
William attended Dougherty County Public schools and graduated from Monroe High School (The Golden Tornadoes) in 1968.
After graduation, he moved to Miami, Florida, and enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country proudly for 20 yrs. His military life took him to many places: Vietnam, Korea, Europe, Missouri, Louisiana, Georgia, and Pennsylvania just to name a few. When he retired in 1989, he returned to his hometown (Albany, GA).
William married his wife of 46 years, Brenda F. Coley, in 1975 in Miami, Florida. They had two beautiful daughters, Brenett Coley Dickerson (Glen Allen, Virginia) and Charlene Coley Walker (Fayetteville, Georgia).
William was a caring supportive husband and father. Family was always first for him. He was loved and admired by many literally all over the world. He was a straight shooter, kept it very real with you but also could be your #1 supporter no matter what you went through. He was a giving person and would give you the shirt off of his back.
William departed this world but gained his wings to his heavenly home on Sunday, Nov. 21st.
William leaves to mourn: his wife, Brenda F. Coley; daughters, Brenett (Matthew) Dickerson (Glen Allen, VA), Charlene (Keith) Walker (Fayetteville, GA), Roxanne Coley (Cannonburg, PA); grandsons: Tyler & Tanner Dickerson (Glen Allen, VA); sisters, Jacqueline Rolle-Pearson (Albany, GA), Janice Wilson (Albany, GA); brothers, Marvin Coley (Albany, GA), Richard Coley (Maryland), Micheal Coley (Albany, GA), and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
